Botanical Reverie began not in a garden or studio, but in memory.
During my time as a newborn photographer, I had gathered an extensive collection of delicate silk and paper flowers. As that chapter of my life closed, they were no longer just props; they were keepsakes that were attached to memories of the tenderness of a brand-new baby. I arranged them with intention, guided by feeling more than form. Then I photographed them in natural light, capturing the stillness and elegance that once framed so many beginnings.
But I wanted the final image to transcend photography. So, I painted over the photograph digitally, layer by layer, to transform it into something dreamlike, rich with texture, evocative of oil on canvas, and quietly timeless.
The result is Botanical Reverie: a puzzle born from memory, crafted with the hands of both photographer and painter, and steeped in the sentiment of the past. A tactile keepsake; one that invites you to slow down and savor beauty for beauty’s sake.
