The story behind Winslow Homer: The American Spirit, from Aether’s founder, Carrie-Ann:
Boston has long been one of my favorite cities—its energy, history, and culture have always felt deeply inspiring to me. It was during one of my first visits there that I was introduced to the work of Winslow Homer, and from the moment I encountered his paintings, I was captivated.
I fell in love with Homer’s work not only because of his New England roots, but because of how he told stories. His art doesn’t simply depict a scene—it captures the weight, tension, and quiet truths of a moment. Whether portraying the aftermath of war, the solitude of a figure at sea, or the daily rhythms of 19th-century life, his paintings carry a depth that feels unmistakably human.
I was especially drawn to his ability to render the emotional undercurrents of his time—the way he painted resilience, uncertainty, and quiet strength without embellishment. His work holds both beauty and gravity, and it speaks to something enduring in the American spirit. This puzzle is a tribute to that voice.
