These vintage postcards capture Rochester across decades of growth and change, from downtown streets and landmark buildings to parks, waterways, industry, and gathering places. The city’s location along the Genesee River and Erie Canal helped shape its early growth, while its gardens, institutions, and neighborhoods created an identity that extended far beyond industry. Together, the cards preserve small snapshots of a city continually evolving.
